Course Overview
So, first of all, what exactly is this certificate? This is a brand new Meta data analyst certificate that just came out from one of the companies with the most data worldwide. There has been a lot of controversy about how much data Meta or Facebook has. But that being said, learning how to be a data analyst for Meta is a pretty good idea, considering how much data they have.
As I’ve mentioned many times on this blog, data is now more valuable than oil or gold, and that’s why you see excellent pay for positions related to data, even positions at the entry level. But this is a brand new course, and they claim that you can finish it in five months, right? So you finish this course, and you get a certificate from Meta after finishing it.
They claim you can go from beginner to job-ready during this period. It does not require a college degree or previous. Plus, they say it’s beginner-level and has a flexible schedule, so you can take it anytime you have free time. So, these are pretty incredible claims. So, we will go through many categories and examine whether or not this is true.
By the way, guys, they offer a seven-day free trial, so you can try it out completely free and audit the course without risking any time or money.
Time to Completion
So first, let’s check the time to completion of Meta data analyst certificate. They claim it would take about five months if you do about ten work hours per week. Now, this is pretty incredible because college degrees take four to five years on average, and you’ll typically be studying, probably more like 40 hours a week. For instance, boot camps from Career Foundry are also available for the same career path.
It takes about 15 to 20 hours per week and takes ten months to complete. If you look at self-reported data on almost all of the Coursera certificates, whether it’s the Google certificate, meta, certificate, etc., nearly all of them, you can complete much faster than what they say. So, if it says it will take five to six months, it usually takes one to three months max.
Sometimes, it’s ridiculous that you can get it done in a few weeks. This one takes one to two months to complete, which is incredibly good. When you compare that to a college degree, a boot camp, or any other alternative way of getting educated, I will give this one a 9.5 out of 10 opportunity score for time to completion.
Cost
Next, let’s talk about the cost of the Meta data analyst certificate itself. Well, first of all, there is a seven-day free trial. So it doesn’t cost anything to try it out, but after the seven-day free trial, you’ll pay about $49 a month. Let’s assume that it takes you two months to complete that. So, that’s about $100 or around $98.
Suppose you can compare that to a college degree that costs over $100,000 on average or a boot camp that costs anywhere from $10,000 to $30,000. In that case, that is an excellent price, and to be honest, that is one of the main reasons why these Coursera certificates are so popular.
They can give you a pretty good chance of getting a job at an incredibly affordable price, so when it comes to the cost, you can’t give this anything other than 10 out of 10.
Demand
Next, let’s talk about the demand of Meta data analyst certificate. So, let’s talk about the market for a job you might enter if you got the certificate: a data analyst. So, BLS (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics) has no data on data analysts, specifically the actual group with data scientists. Still, they say it’s growing 35%, which is much faster than average.
In perspective, the average career grows between 4% and 5% per year. This one grows about seven to eight times faster than the average career. Another thing that makes analyst-type positions so valuable is that when you learn to become a data analyst, you can do it in hundreds of different industries.
For instance, there are data analysts in healthcare, data analysts in real estate, and data analysts in marketing, etc. There are so many different types of data analyst-related positions, and to talk about a few of the positions that you might end up going into with this type of skill set.
We’d have data scientists, business intelligence analysts, data engineers, business analysts, marketing analytics managers, financial analysts, quantitative analysts, risks analysts, data governance analysts, data visualization engineers, and some entry-level jobs would likely be data analysts or business analysts.
If you look at LinkedIn at the entry-level jobs available for many of these mentioned, there are many. So, all signs point to this being one of those jobs with much demand. One of the downsides is that getting your first entry-level job regarding data is a bit difficult.
Even though there’s a ton of demand for this position, there’s also demand for people with the skills. So, I will dock it one point, but still, there’s a huge demand. I will give this one a 9 out of 10 regarding the market.
Salary
Next, let’s discuss Meta data analyst certificate salary. Coursera says the median U.S. entry-level data analytics salary is $82,000 annually. According to Glassdoor, data analysts make about $70,000 to $118,000 a year, associate data analysts make about $73,000 to $119,000 a year, and business analysts make about $78,000 to $125,000 a year.
The salary is excellent, considering many of those jobs are entry-level. So, you have to give this one a 10 out of 10 for salary.
Production Value
Next, let’s talk about the production value and engagement of Meta data analyst certificate, which is where it gets docked a little bit. Now, I will say this part is highly subjective, and it has to do with the instructors’ personalities and how responsive they are to the enrollees’ needs. This is a brand-new course, so there are not many reviews.
However, Coursera has set ridiculously high standards for the quality of its courses. I have found that some of the other courses can sometimes be a little bit better. So, for that reason and because there’s just a lot of data out there, I can only give this one a 7 out of 10 opportunity score.
However, if I change once we get a bunch of reviews and stuff like that in the future, I will have to update this part.
Chances of Landing a Job
Next, let’s talk about its chances of landing you a job with Meta data analyst certificate. Now, finishing this course grants you access to secret job boards that you only have access to if you finish these certificates, and this is an exceptionally highly in-demand career. But with that being said, you do have to know your stuff.
They’re not just going to hand you a job just because you say, you know, data analytics; you have to prove that you know it. So, getting the certificate is a huge step, and it will help you quite a bit. Being able to put it on your resume and your LinkedIn profile is going to make a difference.
Sometimes, recruiters will search for you through the certificate itself if the algorithm detects it in your resume or LinkedIn profile. You are more likely to get discovered. Plus, on top of that, it just generally looks perfect to have this on your resume, but with that being said, you will also need a portfolio.
Now, the great thing is some of the projects that they have you do are portfolio projects, so you can just put those on your portfolio. Still, you’ll likely have to study extra and work to make something original and an excellent portfolio if you want to land a job without a college degree or previous experience.
So, chances of letting you get a job here definitely do have a puncher’s chance, but with that being said, you probably have to do more than just these certificates. I will give this one an 8 out of 10 when landing a job.
Overall Value
Next, let’s talk about the overall value of Meta data analyst certificate that it offers. First, you’ve got the seven-day free trial, and then it’s $$49 a month after that. The skills you gain on your own are precious. They will teach you SQL, Pandas, data analysis, and Python programs, and they will teach you in-demand skills that companies want.
That’s why Coursera did this in the first place: because many big companies, such as Facebook, Meta, Google, IBM, etc., could not find people with the skill sets that they wanted. So, they decided to create their certificates and courses to train people on the stuff that matters. So the fact that you can finish this so quickly is so cheap, it only costs about a hundred dollars.
If you do the two months and you have a puncher’s chance of landing a job, you’ll probably also have to do a portfolio, but you have an excellent job opportunity. This means the value here is an undeniable and evident 10 out of 10. You compare this to any other type of education, whether it’s a college degree, a trade school, a boot camp, Etc.
The value of this certificate is ridiculous. It just blows all the other ones out of the water. Now, with that being said, all those different types of education, in my opinion, are very similar to various kinds of tools. You use other tools for different jobs. It depends on what you need, the outcome you’re looking for, and the tool you use.
This is a perfect tool for the correct type of person. On top of that, one fantastic thing, and it’s understated, about these Coursera certificates is that you can sample a bunch of different careers. So you could test the data analyst career, and if you don’t like it, you can go and check out the IT career, or you can go and check out programming.
We can check out many other jobs that are incredibly in demand because of their apparent value. 10 out of 10, it’s a no-brainer.
Deciphering the Value: A Meta Data Analyst’s Verdict on the Professional Certificate
In conclusion, the Meta Data Analyst Professional Certificate earns a stellar 9 out of 10. This certificate stands out as a remarkable opportunity for those looking to break into the field of data analysis. With the availability of three distinct and highly-regarded data analyst certificates, acquiring all of them could be a strategic move for your career.
I wholeheartedly recommend this certification. It unlocks doors to opportunities that might otherwise remain closed, offering a significant edge in the competitive job market.
