Are you ready to dive into the dynamic world of freelance work with Google? As we enter 2024, the digital landscape continues evolving, and Google remains at the forefront of innovation. Whether you’re a seasoned freelancer or just dipping your toes into the gig economy, these five Google-related freelance jobs offer exciting prospects and the chance to collaborate with one of the tech giants.
Today, I will discuss five freelance Google jobs you can do in 2024. So Google is probably the most powerful company in the world and offers many different ways of making money. In many cases, they offer free training on how to use different Google products and services. So, I found five of the best freelance Google jobs you can do in 2024.
1- Google Ads
So, the first Google job on the list is Google ads. There are many different freelance jobs related to Google ads. But, the way this works is I’m sure you’ve used Google before, and you’ve seen the ads that pop up at the top, and every time you click on one of those ads, the company is charged. That’s why it’s called pay-per-click, and you are an expert on doing pay-per-click ads.
This includes anything from:
- Keyword research,
- Ad copywriting
- Bid management
- Continuous analysis of campaign performance.
Your job is to get the pay-per-click cost as low as possible and convert as many people as possible into paying customers. As you can see, the advertising revenue of Google websites keeps growing exponentially yearly.
So, there are more and more opportunities for people who understand pay-per-click campaigns in Google ads. There are not enough people with the skill set, and on top of that, if you do Google ads as a job, you’ll get paid around $49,000 to $80,000 a year, and it does not require a college degree or previous experience.
Higher-level roles, such as paid search managers, earn around $78,000 to $126,000 annually. But where real money comes from is freelancing or starting your own business. So there are people on Upwork, for instance, who are Google ad specialists that charge over a hundred dollars per hour. If you start an agency, you can get paid on a retainer and a profit percentage.
So it’s a win-win situation for you and the business owner, where you can start making $10,000 to $30,000 a month or even more. The craziest thing is that Google will train you completely free on how to do this, and they offer seven comprehensive courses for free. On top of that, Google partners with companies like Coursera, and they offer their courses for free or very affordable.
So this is an incredible opportunity, whether you want to land a job, start freelancing or even start your own business. I will give this one a 9.5 out of 10 opportunity score.
2- Google Shopping
Next Google job is going to be an opportunity. You’ve probably never heard before and that will be using Google shopping. Google shopping entails the curation and refinement of e-commerce product listings. Within the Google shopping platform, e-commerce is physical products that are sold online. So, if you’ve ever bought something for your kitchen or a gift online, that was an e-commerce product.
What you’d be doing here is:
- Creating and updating product feeds.
- Fine-tuning product titles and descriptions
- Bid management for different paid traffic going to the products
- Performance in the Google shopping ads platform.
As you can imagine, billions of people use Google, and millions use Google shopping.
Glassdoor says Google shopping specialists make about $72,000 to $124,000 per hour. And what do you know? Google offers free training and certifications on how to use the platform. So, for instance, there’s this discover how AI-powered shopping ads work training, and there’s a shopping ad certification. So, this is a little bit similar to Amazon FBA.
If you’re familiar with that, and that’s selling products on Amazon and, of course, if you’re good at that, you can make a ton of money, but it’s a bit more saturated. This one is much less well-known, so there’s less competition, and nobody knows how to do it right now. So, if you get your hands dirty, you take some of these certifications.
It’s going to be much easier for you to get freelance gigs. So, I’m going to go ahead and give this one an opportunity score of 8.5 out of 10.
3- Google Search Console Expert
The next Google job will be as a Google search console expert. Google Search Console is a part of what’s known as SEO or search engine optimization. This is basically how you get websites to rank on the top of Google. So when you type something in on the top of Google, you see that these websites rank at the top, and those are the websites that most people click on, and therefore, those are the websites that most people end up buying stuff from.
So you must get your website to the first page of Google, preferably to the top of the first page. Being an expert on the Google search console will help you do this. For instance, Kevin charges $129 per hour and brands himself as a Google search console expert. Not only can you make money from this, but there are many types of SEO or search engine optimization experts.
The vast majority of opportunities will be on the Google platform because it’s the biggest search engine in the world. For instance, SEO strategists make $68,000 to $109,000 a year. SEO analysts earn $57,000 to $97,000 yearly, and SEO content writers earn $47,000 to $75,000 yearly. This is one of those careers where you do not need a college degree or previous experience to start.
This is an incredible skill to learn if you want to start a business down the line, for instance, starting your website. So this one’s incredible, whether just getting a job, freelancing, or starting your own business. So, I’m going to go ahead and give this one a 9 out of 10 opportunity score.
4- YouTube
The next Google job will be YouTube. Yes, YouTube is owned by Google. So, you can make money with the creator economy or the YouTube ecosystem in many ways. There are so many different job opportunities. I know YouTube consultants that make over a million dollars a year, for instance, but you can make money with many different YouTube-related freelancing gigs or jobs, to mention a few.
You could get hired as a video editor, a YouTube scriptwriter, a social media manager for YouTube or a creative director. You can see that many freelancers on Upwork are making money doing YouTube-related consulting. So overall, I will have to give YouTube a perfect 10 out of 10 opportunity score.
5- Google Sheets
The next Google job will probably surprise you, and it will be Google Sheets. Now, Google Sheets is the online version of Excel if you’ve ever used it. It’s incredibly useful because you can link Google Sheets to anything online. For instance, you can automate using Google Sheets and link it with something like Zapier or Air Tables, and you can automatically track data from all across the internet.
People who are experts at Google Sheets can get paid a ton of money to do this, and there are ways to make money directly and also indirectly. I know that I’ve used Google Sheets for absolutely years, and I love it. I use it for various things, from tracking to keeping things organized. There’s a story about this guy who went from minimum wage to 75,000 a year just making Google Sheets.
On top of that, Google Sheets integrates with code as well. You can learn how to code and use Google Sheets, which opens Pandora’s Box for everything you can do with it. But even just becoming an Excel and Google Sheets expert can make you a ton of money because they’re very similar.
For instance, data analysts make $66,000 to $103,000 a year, and even data entry clerks make about $34,000 to $48,000 a year, and then spreadsheet analysts make $64,000 to $98,000 a year. So there are lots of different job opportunities. There are many freelancing opportunities, and I almost guarantee every business owner uses Google Sheets or Excel.
There is also free training on websites like Coursera for doing more with Google Sheets. There are also free advanced tutorials on using it, which is awesome. Everyone always wants to stay organized, and everyone also wants to track their data because if you don’t know your numbers, it’s really hard to grow your company. So, I’m going to go ahead and give this one a 7.5 out of 10 opportunity score.
