- Conclusion: How to Choose the Best Side Jobs That Pay Cash for You
Introduction
I have found 15 side jobs that pay cash. That’s right. These are jobs where it doesn’t matter where you live, what background you come from, or your skills. You can do these tomorrow if you want to make money. So, let’s go ahead and jump into it.
1- Laundry Professional
The number one on the list side job is Laundry Professional. This is where you provide a service and wash dry fold laundry. Then, in many cases, you would deliver it to the person’s house. This has evolved into a very popular side hustle. Some apps allow you to do this. The app is Sudshare, now known as Poplin, and it’s almost like Uber for the laundry industry. An interesting fact is that early sea voyagers, like the Vikings, tied their laundry up and hung it off the back of ships.
Then, it would watch the laundry as it passed by the waves and the waves splashed on it. If you don’t think you can make money doing this, the people on the app who use Poplin are known as Sudsters, which is a funny name. They make $36 an hour doing this. Of course, you don’t have to use the app. You can start your laundry business and advertise it on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. So yeah, it won’t be the most glorious way of making money.
I mean, laundry is boring after all, but with that being said, there is a need for this, and you tend to attract the types of clients that have a lot of money but they don’t have a lot of time, and so they’re trying to save time by spending their money. These are usually the clients who like to pay for convenience, and people who want to pay for convenience are willing to pay a premium price. So yeah, this one’s pretty good. I’ll give it a 7.5 out of 10 opportunity score.
2- Stage Management
The following side job is going to be Stage Management, and this is basically where you’re sort of, like, the maestro that orchestrates the behind-the-scenes magic in places like theatres or different types of performances, and they’re often employed by theatre companies’ production houses and dance troops, when these various acts come into town, whether it is a musician, a comedian, or some performer.
They need people who know how to do stuff and can help them set up and break things down, and that’s where you come in as a stage management expert. Now, if companies hire an in-house stage manager, it would cost them about $48,000 to $84,000 a year on average, but you can likely make a lot more than that if you do it as a freelance or a side job.
So this is a legit side hus. There are many different ways of getting into it, but overall, knowing how to set things up, break things down, and know the common problems that tend to happen so that you can prevent them from happening is a scarce and valuable skill set. So, I’m going to go ahead and give this one an 8 out of 10 opportunity score.
By the way, my team and I spend hundreds of hours researching and then writing these articles. So, if you appreciate that, we put a lot of effort into these articles to try to make them as good as possible. Give us as many good ideas as possible, then let us know by commenting below, and we’ll write more articles like it in the future.
3- Art Modelling
The following side job is funny, and I put it on here as a joke, but maybe a few people might do it, and that would be Art Modeling, where you let people draw you. So, a lot of the time, you’d be working for a college or some art class, and then you would get up on a stage. You would let people draw you, and typically, you get paid about $25 an hour to do this, and classes will typically last about three to five hours. A fun fact here is that paintings date back over 40,000 years, from when they were found in cave walls.
Now, if I’m being honest here, the best gigs are going to be ones where you have to get nude. That’s why I put this one as a joke: because the criteria here is one to be pretty and get naked three question marks for profit. The art models generally make about $37,000 to $63,000 a year. So this is a legitimate way to make extra money. I’ll give a 5 out of 10 opportunity score.
4- Car Test Driver
The following side job is going to be a Car Test Driver. And this is somebody who assesses vehicle performance, and they focus on speed safety and mechanics. They typically work with automotive companies and provide essential feedback on new models and prototypes. So you’re almost like a culinary critic, except instead of reviewing food, you check cars, and vehicle test drivers make about $53,000 to $83,000 a year. Now, this one requires some knowledge of vehicles.
A lot of the time, they do like to hire the “Average Joe” who doesn’t have a lot of knowledge because, to be honest, that’s the average person who’s going to be buying the vehicle, and you can see these types of gigs posted on job sites all the time. So, this is a legitimate way of making money. It would be perfect if you lived in an area with these car companies. But overall, I will give this one a 7.5 out of 10 opportunity score.
5- YouTube Movie Review Recap Scriptwriter
The following side job will be a YouTube Movie Review Recap Scriptwriter. This is where you make recaps on different types of movies and distil the entire film length into concise, engaging scripts for quick viewing. You probably noticed many of these types of channels on YouTube before, and this is a way of watching a movie without having to watch it and seeing if it’s worth it for you to watch the whole thing. So, this is one of many ways to make money on YouTube. You could start your YouTube channel to skip the entire scriptwriting thing.
That’s precisely what I did, and I feel like I would be a hypocrite if I didn’t tell you that I think it’s one of the best side jobs that you can do because the creator economy is growing like crazy and people, more and more are making their buying decisions as well as they’re viewing decisions based off of social media and specifically YouTube. So, getting into this industry in any way possible is a perfect opportunity. So, I’m going to go ahead and give this one a 10 out of 10 opportunity score.
6- Flipping Items
Next, let’s talk about one of the oldest jobs known to mankind. This is something I’ve done many, many times, and that is Flipping Items. So this is very simple. You pick a niche of items, maybe bikes or shoes; for instance, you buy them low and then sell them high. It’s that simple. There are many different sites where you can do this. You can use eBay, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, Mercari, etc. There are countless examples of people who do this as a side job and make some good side money or even turn it into a full-time thing.
Even as a teenager, I made over $10,000 a year doing this, and I only did it part-time. So basically what you want to do here is find something where, you know, a lot about the product. So, for instance, let’s say you often play Yu-Gi-Oh or Pokemon. So, you know, a lot about Yu-Gi-Oh Pokemon or maybe Magic the Gathering card. If you are a big anime or manga fan, that would be perfect for you to flip items with. So that would also be an excellent thing for you to convert items with.
Maybe you’re a shoehead. You’re obsessed with shoes. That would be great for you to flip, or perhaps you’re a car person. You’re handy and understand cars and how to fix them. That would be a phenomenal thing for you to put. So, I think you get the point here. Flipping items is probably the oldest side hustle or side job known to mankind, but it is still one of the best. I will give this one a 9.5 out of 10 opportunity score.
7- User Testing Experience
The following side job is going to be a User Testing Experience. So this is basically where you use and evaluate different websites and applications and then provide essential feedback to enhance their usability. Companies of all sizes, from startups to small and medium-sized businesses to corporations, rely on this feedback to refine their digital presence if you’ve ever used a website with a bad user experience versus one where everything seems just intuitive.
You intuitively know where everything is, and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s a much better experience; you’ll likely stay on that website. Here’s a quote from the co-founder of Twitter. “The user experience is everything. It always has been, but it’s undervalued and under-invested. If you don’t know user center design study, hire people who know it, obsess over it, live and breathe it, and get your whole company on board.” So yeah, that shows how important this is.
So, they need people to give them feedback on how well their website is designed. Different websites like Userlytics pay $10 per test for each test, which takes 20 to 40 minutes. That’s a good beginner’s one, usertesting.com. It takes about 5 to 20 minutes. Sometimes, there are live conversations, etc., and they pay between $4 and $120 per test. Testerwork pays you based on how many bugs you find. Testing time pays you $50 per study and takes 30 to 90 minutes. Then, users feel they are paying $10 per test, which takes 10 to 60 minutes.
So this is probably not going to be a full-time thing, but this is a perfect way of making a few hundred extra dollars per month, and it’s highly accessible to just about everybody out there. So, I’m going to go ahead and give this one a 7 out of 10 opportunities score.
8- Pet Care
The following side job on the list is going to be Pet Care. This is an oldie but a goodie. People go to work, go out of town, visit their family, and need somebody to care for their loved and trusted pets, right? Pets are a part of the family, but it’s difficult for them to travel with. If you can do a good job caring for their pet, they will pay you a premium. Pet care involves tasks like dog walking, feeding, and pet sitting, and sometimes it might require overnight stays either at their house or, in some cases, you hosting the pet at your own house.
So, there’s a lot of flexibility when it comes to scheduling the services, and your clients typically have a lot of money and are willing to pay a premium for a good service. Let’s be honest. You’re probably going to have a perfect time doing it as well because there are a lot of animal lovers out there, and in pet care, you can make about $40,000 to $71,000 a year. The Rover app is probably the quickest and easiest way to get started because it’s Uber for pet care.
So, this is a good one. A lot of money out there. You can do it on an app like Rover or start your own business and then advertise on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist. So yeah, I’m going to go ahead and give this one an 8.5 out of 10 opportunity score.
9- Professional Organizer
The following side job is going to be as a Professional Organizer. So this is where you get to channel your inner Marie condo, clean up people’s spaces, and organize them. Many people like to do this for free. Anyways, they want to have things organized. It’s fun for them, so they might as well get paid money to do it, and professional organizers make about $53,000 to $83,000 a year. So this is another one where you can post your services on an app like Taskrabbit.
TaskRabbit isn’t available in your area, but you can always post on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, go around town and offer your services, put your services up on a bulletin board in the middle of your town, etc. There are many ways to get clients to do this; many people, including myself, need help. So overall, I’m going to go ahead and give this one an 8.5 out of 10 opportunity score.
By the way, comment down below. Whether you like any of these ideas or if there are other ideas you wish I would have talked about, there’s a perfect chance that I’ll discuss them in more detail.
10- Candle Making
The following side job will be Candle Making, and actually, this is a pretty profitable side job that you can do. There are even companies dedicated to this industry, such as Scentsy. But the particular way that I will talk about doing this today is to create your candles and then sell them. This involves crafting and selling handmade candles, and you often incorporate unique senses, colors, and shapes.
This appeals to customers looking for a unique experience that isn’t like a corporate candle and who want to decorate their houses with beautiful candles. Then, light them up in some cases and have an excellent sense. You can almost think of this as being a chef, but instead of tantalizing taste buds, you will be enchanting the factory senses and creating a visual feast simultaneously. One exciting thing about this is candles have been around for over 2500 years.
So this is something people have enjoyed for a very long period. So you can make real money in this business or do it as a side hustle. It’s just fun to do on the side and sell it to your friends and family. So overall, I will give this one a 7 out of 10 opportunity score.
11- Voiceover Work
The following side job on the list will be Voiceover Work, which is surprisingly easy to get into. One of the main reasons it’s so easy to get into is the onset of AI. So, they’re coming out with realistic AI voices, but just about anyone can tell when it’s an AI voice. So, because of that, real people doing voiceovers are becoming more and more valuable. I can tell you there are not a lot of channels out there that use AI voices, and they do well. Almost all of them are successful channels.
I know I do have real people who are giving the voiceovers. Whether it’s the person who owns the channel or someone they hire, many aren’t looking for a super professional sound. They are often looking for someone who doesn’t have that professional sound because it’s more authentic and realistic, so you don’t have to have expensive audio equipment to get started.
Voiceover artists make about $57,000 to $105,000 a year, so you could make perfect money doing this as a professional, someone who starts their own business as a freelancer, or just doing it as a side job. So yeah, this one’s pretty good. I’ll give it a 7.5 out of 10 opportunity score.
12- Life Coach
The following side job will be some Life Coach or some coach in general. Now, this could be a career coach, a life coach, a fitness coach, a mindset coach, a business coach, etc, where you have done something in your life. That is somewhat impressive. Maybe you got a college degree, or perhaps you got into a career path. It’s hard to get into, and then you coach other people on how to do that same thing. It’s pretty much that simple. First, accomplish X, then teach others who want to accomplish X how to achieve X.
That’s how coaching pretty much works. Imagine anything that you’ve gotten good at in your life. Maybe you are good at playing a musical instrument or sports, and then imagine trying to do that without ever having any feedback from a coach or a teacher. It probably would have been borderline impossible to do it. Right? It’s the same thing in business, getting a career, etc. It’s always super helpful. For instance, if you have somebody to give you feedback and life coaches, make about $54,000 to $92,000 a year.
So yeah, you can make a lot of money doing this. I’ve seen many people say that it’s one of the most common business models. I’ve seen people make money with it; all you have to do is think of what you are already good at. What have you already done a lot of and then teach other people how to do that thing? So yeah, I will give this one a 9.5 out of 10 opportunity score.
13- Reselling Furniture Items
The following side job will be Reselling Furniture Items. It is a perfect side hustle. The thing about this is that there are a lot of couches out there. For instance, there are charming couches. You know, couches or chairs, something like a lazy boyfriend, for example, but they get a little stain on them, and then they get minor wear and tear, and most people get rid of them. When you originally bought these things, they might have been thousands and thousands of dollars.
So you can come in with professional cleaning equipment to clean off the couch or the chair, right? So you can resell it for almost brand new prices. So if it originally cost $3,000, you can resell it for $2,500 or $2,000, and keep in mind, you originally bought it from somebody who just wanted to get rid of it, and maybe you bought it for 50 bucks. Flipping a couch is a phenomenal way of making money, so I immensely like this one.
Many people post online how they’re making, you know, $36,000 a month doing this, and it’s flipping. But with one extra step, which you like, clean the couch first. So yeah, this one is excellent. I’m going to give it a 9 out of 10 opportunity score.
14- Computer Technician
The following side job will be a Computer Technician. There are so many different types of computer technician types of side jobs. So you can give me one example. Let’s say that somebody wants to start up a podcast. Well, having the sound dialed in on a podcast is not the easiest thing in the world. Another thing you notice is that when you watch a lot of podcasts, it automatically goes to the person talking, right? So, the technology knows who’s talking, and the camera automatically goes to that person.
Again, that type of thing isn’t easy to set up. However, if you figure out how to set it up, one time you can do it over and over and over again, and then you can get paid by people to do it—people who don’t want to have to take the time to figure out everything. So not only can you tell them precisely what they need to buy, but you can also just set it up for them. As you can imagine, there’s probably a lot of demand for this in your local area because everybody’s trying to start YouTube channels, podcasts, and other things.
So that’s just one example of a computer technician. I mean, there are a million other examples out there. You want to find particular things where people are willing to pay a premium price for you to set it up correctly. So yeah, this is a great one. I’ll give it a 9.5 out of 10 opportunity score.
15- Selling Plants
Next, let’s talk about Selling Plants. So this is where you would plant, grow, and cultivate different types of plants and then sell them to people who want to have plants in their house or backyard. Now, there are straightforward ways to do this, such as maybe you can grow flowers or something like that. Then, so many people get into extremely niche types of plant growing where they’re growing different kinds of bonsai trees, for instance, which can sell for over $10,000 in some cases.
So, if you’re somebody who likes to plant garden things, this could be a side job for you, and you could even turn it into a full-time business somewhere down the line. So this one’s pretty good. I’ll give it an 8 out of 10 opportunity score.
